The idea behind I Love Designer is a great one: travel to any distance and find the best talent from all over the world so anyone can have access to the most beautiful pieces from the most exotic and remote locations!
Combining stunning products from both Eastern and Western independent luxury designers, their mission is to make this pieces available to every women no matter where they reside. Founded in 2011, I Love Designer was inspired by fabulous jewellery and other treasures the team came across in their travels, allowing us to experiment with different styles, colours and adorn limited edition pieces.
The reason why I fell in love with the concept of I Love Designer is the fact that whether it’s hand set jewels from Jaipur, exotic leathers of Bali, or the individual prints from London or New York all of their carefully selected designers are talented individuals who have passion and craftsmanship to showcase to the rest of the world.
Is admirable that they not only host but give a voice for brands, small businesses and artisan work. As I said many times, I’m a big advocate for handcrafted products, because it supports real people – I know that someone used their talent and passion to create something, which means quality and a whole lot of love!
I have a soft spot for new and independent designers who insist on using only the best quality products to bring their creations from a simple sketch, all the way up through a finished product. Emerging Designers look to push the boundaries as to what is considered the norm in their craft. They look for inspiration in places slightly unusual to the obvious and these are the ones I Love Designer is bringing to us!
These are my picks from the website…
Fashion isn’t the only thing that needs an ethical makeover. Jewellery has its own issues around the sourcing of metals, precious stones and diamonds and making sure the people in the process are being fairly paid and treated. But there are ethical jewellery brands out there who’ve done the hard work for you. Here are some of our current favourites for this spring.
Supporting brands like Saught which buys scrap metal, then trains local Cambodians to turn it into jewellery, creating long term jobs with hope. Their business promotes peace and sustainable development in post war countries. And Zevar Silver that uses techniques passed down through generations and showcases the finest traditions of Indian craftsmanship such as the “Kundan” enamel work of Rajasthan.
